In the shadows of UNC’s basketball and football teams, one may not ever hear about the variety of sports played by students. One of those lesser known sports is rugby.

UNC football player Bruce Carter faced possible suspension before the game against LSU Sept. 4. Carolina Connection gave Carter an audio recorder as he waited the night before to hear if he could play.

Some students wonder if the reputation of the University’s spots programs is tarnished. Others don’t care about what the football players do as long as they win on Saturdays.

Thirteen players graduated last spring, leaving big shoes for young recruits to fill. Coaches have confidence in their recruitment process, and the team has maintained it’s number one preseason spot.
