UNC defends decision to drop controversial sports class

UNC administrators are defending the decision to drop a controversial class in the history department. History 383 explores big-time college sports and UNC’s long-running athletic/academic scandal.

It’s taught by Jay Smith, who has criticized the university’s role in the scandal. He’s teaching the class this semester, but he’s been told it won’t be offered next year.
