Coastal N.C. prepares for Hurricane Matthew

By Matti Smith

On Saturday morning, Hurricane Matthew was a Category 2 storm, with the eye just south of Charleston. Forecasters expect the hurricane to impact North Carolina with heavy rainfall and possible flooding.

Wilmington is one of the cities that is getting ready for the storm. Earlier this week, UNC-Wilmington evacuated its campus, and New Hanover County has declared a state of emergency for its residents. Joining us now is Jonathan Morris…a U-N-C Chapel Hill senior who is from Wilmington. He is back at his parent’s house this morning to ride out the storm. Jonathan…thanks for joining us this morning.
