Here’s an issue all too familiar to Carolina students – tuition increases. In-state tuition has more than doubled since 2001 to $6,700. Those increases have come in small chunks over the years, but now UNC is considering a much bigger increase – more than 30 percent for in-state students.
Administrators say they’ve run out of options. They’ve already absorbed more than 230-million dollars in state budget cuts since 2008. But some students say the proposed increase would cause more problems than it would fix.
