Durham homeless may lose refuge if library closes

In Durham, the main branch of the public library is a gathering place for everyone. But it’s a popular place for the homeless people where they can access the internet, use the bathroom and find shelter in bad weather.

If voters approve a bond referendum next month, the library branch might be closing temporarily… so that extensive renovations can take place.

That may leave the homeless without the library’s accommodations for two years.
