Campus lockdowns can be especially hard for grad students, who face unique pressures

It has been three weeks now since professor Zijie Yan was fatally shot on UNC’s campus.

The shooting, along with a second lockdown after a man allegedly pulled out a gun in the Student Union, has taken a toll on a lot of people’s mental health. One group that has been uniquely affected is graduate students, who often teach classes while trying to earn their degrees and do research.
