More changes likely to UNC protest policies

Leaders of the Faculty Council say there will likely be more changes to a proposed UNC System policy that tries to regulate campus protests.

The Board of Governors put out a draft of the policy last week after the state legislature required harsher punishments for people who disrupt campus speakers.

Members of the Faculty Council expressed concerns that the proposed policy puts campus officials in more of a law-enforcement role.

Chair of the Faculty Leslie Parise said that the Faculty Council is working with the Board of Governors to revise the draft policy. She expects that there will be changes before the Board votes on it next month.
