Police apprehend a former student after a small explosion damages UNC’s historic Davie Poplar tree. A professor was injured trying to put out the fire. The UNC Board of Governors is close to passing a new policy to limit campus protests.  There’s a local election Tuesday, but most students aren’t interested.  A UNC expert is calling for rule changes to prevent football concussions.  Chapel Hill and Carrboro are home to a growing number of Syrian refugees.
