UNC unveiled an exhibit in Davis Library Wednesday featuring the medals of its two Nobel Prize winners, Oliver Smithies and Aziz Sancar. The medals will remain on display for a year as a way to inspire students. Smithies won his Nobel Prize in 2007 in physiology or medicine, and Sancar won his award in 2015 in chemistry.

We caught up with the 90-year-old Smithies after the ceremony and asked him who had the idea to put the awards on display.
