One UNC student is protesting what he says is one of the most unrecognized forms of institutionalized homophobia: federal limits on blood donations from gay men. The FDA is considering a revision to its ban on gay men donating blood, but may still prohibit donations from gay men who have been sexually active in the past year.

To express his opposition to the ban, sophomore Christian Haig built an eight-foot tall plastic blood bag to display on campus.
