Freshman charged in false bomb threat

A UNC freshman is facing felony charges after making a threat on social media.

Wednesday night, a post on the app Yik Yak hinted at potential danger for students on Thursday. The anonymous post said quote “To all my friends, don’t be in the Pit tomorrow at noon. Things will be getting a bit explosive.”

Police and K-9 dogs combed campus but found no evidence of danger.

During the day Thursday, police arrested 18-year-old Daniel Fischbeck for the post while he was in an economics class.

Fischbeck has been charged with making a false bomb report at a public building.
