Tuesday, the UNC Center for Media Law and Policy hosted its annual First Amendment Day to celebrate every American’s right to free speech. The Keynote speaker for the day was Greg Lukianoff, the president of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, also known as FIRE. FIRE gave UNC a less than perfect rating for how well it protects the campus’ First Amendment rights. He joined us to talk about the rating.
