You don’t have to be a college basketball brainiac to know that retired UNC basketball coach Dean Smith represented excellence.

On Wednesday, Smith was recognized on the national level when President Barack Obama awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Carolina Connection’s Louis Fernandez and Zach Mayo were at the White House to take it all in.
