Hearing researchers find ‘volume knob’ inside our brains

You can hurt your ears by standing too close to car horns, loud speakers and screaming Duke fans. But curiously, you can yell “Go Heels!” as loud as you want and your ears will be fine.

Duke researchers recently discovered that our brains can actually adjust the volume coming from our ears, helping us fit in with our surroundings.
