Polk Place has some of the most beautiful trees on UNC’s campus. But with thousands of fans congregating on Polk Place for Tar Heel Town on football Saturdays, officials worried about the potential damage.
So this season marked the first time in more than a decade that Tar Heel Town wasn’t on Polk Place… and the university says it’s been a win-win all around.
