Historic drug store adapts to growing competition

by Logan Martinez

For more than 90 years, Suttonā€™s Drug Store has been a staple on Franklin Street. People line up Ā for Ā old-fashioned burgers or hot dogs at the soda fountain.

But fewer people are visiting Sutton’s to get their medicine. The store faces competition from Ā chain pharmacies, like the Walgreens down the street. Just this week, Triangle Business Journal reported thatĀ CVS also plans to open a Franklin St. store.

Carolina Connectionā€™s Logan Martinez stopped by Suttonā€™s to find out how smaller pharmacies are adapting to the change.
