Protesters support student in Honor Court case

by Mike Rodriguez and Jennifer Brodish

Controversy continues over the way UNC responds to allegations from students of sexual assault.

Students rallied in front of South Building to support Landen Gambill, a sophomore who filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education claiming the university violates  the rights of sexual assault victims.

Last year, Gambill went to the student Honor Court and charged her then-boyfriend with sexual assault. The court found him not guilty, and now he’s gone to the court and accused her of intimidating him.

The complicated case raises larger questions about UNC’s Honor Court and the school’s handling of sexual assault cases.
