Board downplays athletic dept. role in scandal

This week we heard the results of another investigation into UNC’s long-running academic scandal. This time, members of the UNC Board of Governors compiled the results of all the earlier investigations.

Board member Lew Bessette said the panel concluded that there was no evidence of collusion between the Athletic Department and the Department of African and Afro-American Studies, which had classes that rarely met — and where students including many athletes received high grades for little work.
