Neighbors skeptical of Bingham plans

UNC’s animal research center- the Bingham facility- is waiting for the state to issue a permit to build a new wastewater treatment system. Its previous system failed in 2009. The facility, which is a fifteen minute drive from campus, upset neighboring residents when it didn’t tell them about the failed system, which  leaked wastewater into a creek near the property. Now, UNC faces more criticism from neighbors and local environmentalists.
