A tick bite could make you allergic to red meat

A UNC researcher is trying to make sense of a puzzling allergy that has an unusual effect and an even more unusual cause. It’s called the alpha-gal allergy, and it leaves people unable to eat red meat without becoming really sick. Scientists think it might be caused by tick bites.
