UNC prepares for drastic budget cuts

As the state legislature began its new session in late January, the dominant topic was the budget crisis that’s left North Carolina $3 billion in the red.    UNC Chancellor Holden Thorp told the Board of Trustees that layoffs, tuition increases, and class reductions all are likely this year, but said he is doing all he can do protect the education of Carolina students.
