A state law that took effect this month allows more guns on campus at UNC and other North Carolina public universities. People with concealed carry permits now can bring their weapons on campus, as long as the firearm stays locked in a car in a closed container.
Some gun-rights advocates say the new law makes students safer, but critics — and UNC police — aren’t so sure.
