It was ten years ago this month that three Muslim students were murdered in a crime that shocked Chapel Hill and the world. They were shot by a neighbor in the Finley Forest condo complex.

While the case was never officially labeled a hate crime, many hope to shift this narrative. UNC’s Muslim Students Association hosted a documentary screening of “36 Seconds: Portrait of a Hate Crime” which honors their memories and brings attention to the continued threat of Islamophobia.
