TikTok is in limbo, and UNC student influencers fear they may lose their income stream

The clock is ticking for TikTok. If the app’s owner, Bytedance, is unable to sell it to an American buyer by April 5, it could face a permanent ban. The Trump Administration says it’s attempting a deal to put the app under majority-American ownership. Six days out from the deadline, nothing is final.

At UNC, many student influencers make money off their TikTok fame. Now, those influencers are in limbo. Madeleine Ahmadi reports.
