How climate change is making urban areas in the Triangle hotter

If you live in an urban area like the Triangle, it might seem hotter than when you take a drive out to the country.  That’s because of something called the Urban Heat Island effect – that can raise the temperature 1-3 degrees. 

Sarah Berk is a UNC climate researcher who is exploring the impacts of this temperature difference and how it will affect city dwellers. 

She talks with Carolina Connection’s Sarah Ellis.
