After 64 years, Friendly Barber Shop will close in April

Where did UNC men’s basketball legend Eric Montross get his signature “Montross cut?” At Friendly Barber Shop in Carrboro. Now, after 64 years, the shop will close at the end of April.

Mia Khatib stopped by to learn how the barber shop has embedded itself as a staple in the community.

  1. We’ll all miss Russ … hard to believe this is the last month – I hope I can get one more cut (I’m sure it will be packed!). Best of luck to Russ – one of the classiest guys in Carrboro and one of the best run businesses! Friendly had a great run – we’ll miss it!!
