‘Everybody’s fighting the cold’: Helene survivors struggle to find housing for the winter

It’s been three months since Helene devastated communities across western North Carolina, and the recovery is being slowed by cold winter temperatures and a regionwide housing shortage. Many residents are living in campers and trailers as temporary housing, and relying on one another for help.
