It’s been five weeks since Helene struck Western North Carolina. Thousands remain without power and sections of I-26 and I-40 still remain closed near the Tennessee border. Government and Private aid have made strides in the recovery efforts, but with Governor Roy Cooper requesting an additional 3.9 Billion dollars from the legislature, there’s still a long road ahead.
Carolina Connection’s Henry Taylor discussed Helene’s aftermath with UNC Department of Health Policy and Management Professor Bill Gentry, who also serves as the Director of the Community Preparedness and Disaster Management Certificate Program.
