A N.C. stingray is a TikTok sensation, as scientists seek to explain her unusual pregnancy

A new influencer has taken over TikTok, but she’s not a human… she’s a pregnant stingray named Charlotte. She lives in the Aquarium and Shark Lab by Team ECCO in Hendersonville, North Carolina. But Charlotte lives in a tank with no other rays, only two sharks. So it’s not clear how she became pregnant.

The Team Ecco TikTok account gained over six hundred thousand followers after announcing Charlotte’s mysterious pregnancy… with speculation ranging from immaculate conception to possible shark-stingray babies.
