Long lines greet a long-awaited opening on Franklin Street

Raising Cane’s, a southern fried-chicken restaurant, has finally opened its Chapel Hill location.  The build-up attracted more attention than most new fast food places – partly because of the location in a historic building right in the center of town, and partly because renovating the building took two years and millions of dollars.

Now, students say the restaurant is becoming a new staple for late night bites downtown.
