N.C. Congressman reflects on a week of “chaos and confusion” in the U.S. House

The House of Representatives this week voted 216 to 210 to remove California Republican Kevin McCarthy from his position as House speaker. The vacancy at the top of the House means Congress can’t do much of anything, including pass a budget. A government shutdown is possible next month.

Here to talk about the local perspective is Democratic Congressman Wiley Nickel. Nickel is serving his first term in Congress as Representative of the 13th District of North Carolina, which includes Wake, Wayne, Johnston and Harnett Counties.
