Chapel Hill’s police department is planning to move to leased space in an iconic building

The town of Chapel Hill has leased space for the police department in “The Parkline,” the former Blue Cross and Blue Shield Building on U.S. 15-501. (Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina)

The Chapel Hill Police Department says its headquarters are in disrepair. Not only does the building sit on top of old coal ash, but the police chief says there are water leaks and mildew issues.

So the town is planning to move the department to a temporary home in an iconic east Chapel Hill building, the former headquarters of Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
