A new marker on Franklin St. recognizes UNC’s historic contribution to WWII

During World War II, aerial combat became just as important as having troops on the ground and ships at sea. So UNC had a preflight school where many young pilots learned to fly.

Now, the state of North Carolina is commemorating that history with a historic marker on Franklin Street.
