Faculty express deep concerns over new policy prohibiting “compelled speech”

The UNC Board of Governors’ “compelled speech” policy has taken effect. 

According to UNC Human Resources, the new policy prohibits asking job and student applicants for statements regarding their political affiliations or attitudes toward social issues. This includes prohibiting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion statements.
