The Audubon Society’s annual Christmas Bird Count is part recreation, part science

Every year during December and January, people across the world participate in a one-day event known as the Christmas Bird Count, sponsored by the National Audubon Society. For some participants in the decades-old tradition, bird watching is more than just a hobby.
