For a UNC researcher, the invasion of Ukraine hits close to home

Russian troops this week attacked cities all around Ukraine…including the capital city of Kyiv. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Thursday the “special military operation.”

Oleh Wolowyna is a researcher of Ukrainian demography and UNC Center for Slavic, Eurasian and East European Studies fellow. He was born in Ukraine, still has relatives there, and has spent his career studying the region.

Wolownya spoke with Carolina Connection’s Daniel Myrick.
