The University Place recycling center is closing. County officials are hoping to replace it.

The 24-hour recycling center at University Place will close at the end of May because the mall property owners plan to redevelop the complex. Orange County Solid Waste Management already extended the closure from January 31, but some county residents would like to see a new 24-hour center take its place.
