Students are back in Chapel Hill for a new semester, amid worries about Omicron’s fast spread

UNC’s Spring 2022 semester started January 10, amid rapid national growth in the COVID-19 case count.

While other universities around the state opted to move classes online for the first few weeks, UNC brought students back into classrooms and dorms. Some UNC community members are questioning the university’s plan, and others are embracing it.
