Women on the courts: The journey is long

It’s been 40 years since the first woman – Sandra Day O’Connor – was nominated to the United States Supreme Court. Twenty years prior, the first woman was appointed to the North Carolina Supreme Court. While more women have served on the North Carolina Supreme Court since then, there are still barriers to entry.
