Doulas are helping Black mothers who are at higher risk for childbirth complications

Medical mistrust and maternal mortality rates have led many Black mothers to seek the guidance of doulas. Doulas provide spiritual, physical and emotional support for women throughout their pregnancy. They also often serve as important advocates for mothers who often feel ignored.
