Young people are voting early at higher rates in 2020 than in previous years

In 2016, only 45% of voters aged 18-29 actually showed up at the polls in North Carolina. This year, young people are turning out in large number at early voting sites. However, it’s not clear how the pandemic and other factors will affect the final turnout.

CIRCLE is a nonpartisan research center that studies and promotes youth civic engagement. Kristian Lundberg is an associate researcher there.

Janet Alsas spoke with him to talk about the youth voter participation in the 2020 election.
