UNC Transgender Health Program hopes to provide a safe environment for medical care

For transgender people, going to the doctor for a routine checkup or flu shot can be uncomfortable. According to a 2015 study, almost a quarter of transgender people in the United States reported avoiding healthcare out of fear of being mistreated. Last year, UNC started a new program that hopes to provide a safe environment so transgender people feel more comfortable going to the doctor.
