UNC administrators say student free speech is protected, but others aren’t so sure

In recent years, UNC has become a national stage for free speech issues. From Silent Sam demonstrations to protests against controversial speakers, UNC has been a place where students have been put in the spotlight for these free expression conversations. This week, the UNC Program for Public Discourse invited three free speech experts to speak virtually about the First Amendment on campus.
