UNC spring reopening plans raise concerns for the Chapel Hill community

By Aurora Charlow

This semester has been chaotic, but UNC leaders are hoping to avoid more chaos in the spring. This week, Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz began laying out details of how the spring semester will unfold. He announced it will begin January 19, almost two weeks later than originally scheduled. There will be no spring break, and commencement will be May 16.

In response to student concerns, there will be five so-called “wellness days” throughout the semester when classes will be cancelled.

However, even with a concrete start and end date, questions about the semester remain.
