People remember Randall Kenan as a trailblazer in Southern literature

Award winning novelist and UNC professor Randall Kenan passed away August 28 at his home in Hillsborough. Throughout his 57 years, he became a mentor to many, both in his native North Carolina and across the country.

Following his passing, students, faculty and fans of Kenan’s work took to social media to share their memories. Carolina Connection’s Janet Alsas spoke with some of them about his work and its impact.
