‘Elevator Queen’ Cherie Berry famous but controversial during 20 year term

North Carolina Commissioner of Labor, Cherie Berry, recently announced that she will not be running for re-election in 2020 after serving in the position for two decades. Because she has her photo on certificates of operation in every elevator in the state, Berry has stirred up both admiration and controversy.

Some North Carolinians have even dubbed her the “Elevator Queen.” Charlotte Ix reports.
