On UNC’s 225th birthday, Folt apologizes for “profound injustices of slavery”

Members of the UNC community gathered Friday for the University’s 225th birthday. But it wasn’t all a celebration.

Carol Folt became the first Chancellor in UNC history to address and apologize for the University’s use of slaves during its construction and other acts of racial injustice throughout its history.

David Saff reports.
