Faculty call for Silent Sam’s permanent removal, as protesters face trials

UNC’s faculty yesterday weighed in on what the University administration should do about Silent Sam. The Faculty Council passed a resolution saying the statue has no place on campus, but Chancellor Folt has suggested that the controversial statue could return to campus just not at its previous McCorkle Place location.

UNC is just over one month out from announcing that decision. But the protesters involved in Silent Sam’s toppling are facing court dates now. Ashley Mills gives an update on the hearings.
