UNC asks for extra time to respond to latest NCAA allegations

The saga of the UNC academic-athletic scandal continues. The University was scheduled to respond to the latest notice of allegations from the NCAA earlier this week. But it has instead asked for extra time to compose that response. To complicate matters, former African and Afro-American studies department manager Deborah Crowder recently released a statement defending the legitimacy of the so-called “paper classes.” It was the first time she’s addressed the scandal since the NCAA investigation began.
