President Obama has announced that North Carolina State University will house a $140 million effort to develop high tech energy-efficient electronic devices.

Several other universities, including UNC, will be part of the consortium, as will 18 corporations. The effort will be funded by a combination of federal, state, and corporate money. The other schools involved are Arizona State University, Florida State University, the University of California at Santa Barbara, and Virginia Tech.

The President made the announcement at NCSU’s J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.

Carolina Connection’s Zach Mayo was there, and spoke with WCHL’s Aaron Keck about President Obama’s remarks.
